Looking for a franchise opportunity but want something a bit different? If you are keeping an eye out for up and coming UK franchises, here is our list of "ones to watch" for the future:
UK-Based Franchise Businesses:
Pan Chai
Source Upmarket purveyors of Thai cuisine, Pan Chai has a prestige outlet in Harrods Food Hall, and their sophisticated branding will no doubt attract potential franchisees who are interested in high end restaurant opportunities.
Kung Fu Schools
Based in the South East of England, Kung Fu Schools offers an exciting franchise opportunity for anyone interested in martial arts and education. The brand already packs a PR punch as it has a high profile advocate in Peter Andre.
Angela's Swim School
Owned by ex-international and commonwealth swimmer Angela Wilson, Angela's Swim School has a strong brand that effectively conveys Angela's passion for teaching swimming. There is also a proven business model and demand for this kind of franchise, so it could easily be making waves nationwide very soon.
Barking Mad Professional Mobile Grooming
The founders of Barking Mad Professional Mobile Grooming have already set up a successful dog-sitting franchise, so they know what they are doing with their new venture, which offers pampered pooches a professional grooming service on a mobile basis.
Hotcha
This Bristol-based Chinese takeaway chain has expanded to 10 outlets in just 3 years, and they have big plans to be the UK's first and biggest nationwide Chinese restaurant franchise.

Franchise Businesses from Overseas:
Obviously every country is different, and what works well in the USA or Australia might not translate to success in the UK, but here are some interesting franchise opportunities from overseas giving the UK market a go:
Jim's Mowing
A friendly Aussie brand with over 3000 franchise owners in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, Jim's Mowing is starting to make its presence felt in UK gardens too. Garden care as a sector already has well established franchises operating in the UK, but with the British obsession with gardening showing no sign of waning, there is definitely room for growth.
Pita Pit
This successful healthy eating chain started out in Canada, and has just started to make an appearance in Manchester and Leeds. An emphasis on high quality fast food (including vegetarian and vegan options) served in funky surroundings should appeal strongly to UK students, workers on a lunch break and hungry clubbers.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries Source
A huge success in the USA and Canada, with over 1000 outlets opened in the space of five years, Five Guys have started to open franchises in the UK (despite their website saying they are not looking for overseas territories at the moment – maybe that needs updating!)
